Elizabeth Cox is an economist who leads on nef’s UK and international local economic development work. Her work ranges from research identifying the loss of diversity on UK highstreets (Clone Town), design and delivery of action research on enterprise and local economic development to support practical community action in the UK and internationally (BizFizz, Local Alchemy and Plugging the Leaks), to developing approaches to help public bodies to commission and procure more sustainably. New areas of research include developing a low carbon, high well-being economic development model, and community action on energy-use and generation. Prior to joining nef in 2003 Elizabeth worked as an economist in South America for four years, and as a Research Fellow in the University of Aberbeen. Elizabeth holds an MPhil in Economic Development.
