Before joining nef in April 2006, Stephen was Head of Research for Intelligence Capital, a City-based financial advisory and research company, a consultant to the Commonwealth Business Council (CBC) on international investment flows and a Visiting Research Fellow with State Street Bank & Trust. Stephen also worked at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) on issues of financial crises (the subject of his doctoral thesis), the reform of international financial institutions and international financial regulation. He also retains academic links as a visiting lecturer on Developmencial reform, economic theory, sustainable development, equalityt Finance at the University of Reading.
Stephen is co-author of nef's report The Great Transition and is the author of a book, Global Development Finance (2007). He is currently working on new macroeconomic model which works for people and the planet.
