Susanna has a background in political philosophy, and taught politics and political thought in the Social & Political Science Faculty at Cambridge University. Outside academia, she has written for the media, and published a number of novels, including The Colour of His Hair, on the subject of internecine strife in Northern Ireland where she was actively engaged in establishing the non-denominational Alliance party.
Her current work is a critique of the ethic of moral individualism inherent in Western liberal thinking.
Susanna first joined nef in 2001as part of the Jubilee Research programme, specialising in the analysis of international debt and the reform of the global financial architecture. She has recently been focusing on the policies and debates surrounding the issue of international migration.
