nef often distinguishes itself from other think tanks by having on the ground pilots and projects that put our ideas into practice, like timebanks, bizfizz and local alchemy.
nef also put in place the first Neighbourhood Think Tank with community partner The Gorbals Initiative, the local development company in Glasgow. Reversing the conventional approach, this partnership provides an opportunity for the local community to test new strategies and feed in its own ideas and experiences of social and economic development policies to nef.
The idea is to get away from top-down approaches for generating good ideas on social and economic policy - too often think tanks in the UK work in isolation from the realities of people's lives.
For more information on the initiatives in practice, please contact the Gorbals Initiative.
