economics

nef is creating a new framework for real wealth creation: by redefining wealth to focus on increased well-being and environmental sustainability rather than on just having and consuming more things.

To do this we advocate and develop new ways of measuring progress and new forms of exchange or currency, like timebanks. We also seek to harness enterprise to achieve social and environmental goals through our work on the inner city 100, enterprise and innovation and through transforming markets.  We particularly focus on the needs of disadvantaged people and communities, creating practical ways to change, through for example, tools for local economic renewal and ways to address problems with access to finance.

At the international level our new global economy programme challenges economic orthodoxy. We also continue to campaign on, and analyse international debt through Jubilee Research.
